With its range of offerings, Winmate has certainly established a strong presence in the market. It is said that managing growth is one of the most challenging tasks in business, but if Winmate’s YTD 2021 growth is any indication, Mr. Lu and his team are up to the task. After winning long-term supply contracts from two global Tier 1 customers last year, Winmate’s earnings and revenues have grown handsomely in 2021, far outpacing its industry peers. In Q1 of 2021, Winmate delivered 67 percent growth in revenue, 56 percent growth in net income, and a net profit margin of 14 percent. No other local IPC player matched these numbers. Furthermore, May revenues reached a record high of NT$253mn, surpassing the previous single-month record high of Sep 2020 by 20 percent and rising by 114 percent versus May 2020.

Having carved a unique niche, when we asked Mr. Lu to comment on Winmate’s outlook for future growth, he says, “Our goal is to maintain a stable net margin in 2021, while delivering 20%+ revenue growth this year and over the next five years. We are very optimistic about new client wins and our prospects for success in the rugged laptop market. Additionally, we will continue to share earnings via cash dividend payouts, targeting a payout of 75 percent or above.”
